Here Comes The Beginning!

        Chapter One
It is kind of funny how my mom and dad met. My dad went surfing one day and saw a beautiful woman watching the water. He swam over, but saw something approaching the woman. He shouted for her to watch out and not a second too soon! A creature lunged at her, but she swung her arm out at it. It was a shark. The shark froze in the air. The lady swam over to the shark. She touched it’s fin and it disappeared. The lady approached my dad, then he saw it. She had a shimmery pink tail. She was a mermaid!
“Thank you for saving me,” she said. “I am Coral.”
“I am Joe,” he said. “Nice to meet you.”
“You also,” she smiled at him.
And that is how they met. Soon I was born, but war was rumored in the ocean. Coral, who was the princess, gave me to my dad to keep me safe.
“I named her Hannah,” she told him. “That is her land name, but her ocean name will be revealed when she is fourteen. Never tell her that she is a mermaid until she comes of age. I must go. Good-bye, Joe.”
“Good-bye, Coral,” he whispered.
My mom disappeared into the water, leaving my dad holding a child. She had ocean blue eyes and black, curly hair. He smiled and went back to land.

            Thirteen Years Later. . .
“Hannah, wait up!” I turned and saw my best friend, Caitlin, running up to me. I grinned and approached her.
“Hannah, happy birthday!” she breathlessly squealed. Today, I was fourteen. My dad said I should go swimming while my mom, Marie, made my cake. I nodded and gave Caitlin a call saying that we should go swimming. She agreed and said she’d be over in five minutes. She held out a bag that was my favorite pink color. I grabbed it and pulled out another bag that said “Swimmable Mermaid Tails by Fun Tails”.
I smiled. I had wanted one of these since I was a little kid. The ocean and the pool had always called to me. Dad said I was an actual mermaid as a joke.
“I brought mine too!” she grinned back. She pulled her orange tail from her backpack.
“What are we waiting for?” I cheered. We ran to the pool deck. I had already changed into my swimsuit, but Caitlin had to go change. I pulled on the new tail, which was a pink color and dove into the water.

Meet the Author: Hello, I am Rachel and I am introducing my newest mermaid tale to you. Rachel is a teenage girl who loves to swim and write stories about fictional creatures and real creatures alike.

The Wonderful Tail: This new tail is about a fourteen year old girl named Hannah, who is the daughter of Queen Coral, but she doesn't know she is a mermaid. She lives with her father and step mother. Her best friend is a mermaid named Caitlin who also lives on land. Caitlin's mother is a mermaid, but she doesn't figure that out until she surprisingly meets her. They meet a mermaid, who lives in the ocean, named Tiger Lily but goes by Lily. Lily's mother is Queen Coral's adviser and can never go to land but does anyway. But an evil mermaid who used to be the queen's adviser before Lily's mother, Sealesa, is planning a plot against the queen and Sealesa. Caitlin abandons Hannah at the last minute and it is up to Lily and Hannah to save the ocean and the humans who dwell in it. Can they do it? You will have to find out in Where Lay Mermaids.
